How we choose products
Transparency is non-negotiable. Here is exactly how RoomSized selects, verifies, and presents the products on every Room Recipe.
Selection criteria
Every product on a RoomSized Room Recipe is selected against constraint-based criteria, not editorial opinion alone.
- Dimensions fit— the product's published dimensions must work in the target room size (the cozy flagship is sized to a single-window 14×12 ft bedroom).
- Budget band— the product must fall within the page's stated total.
- Room role— each product fills a defined role: rug, lighting, bedding, nightstand, storage, accent.
- Renter-conscious fit— products should avoid renovation-heavy installs where possible, and any wall or ceiling hardware tradeoff must be called out clearly.
- Availability— products must be available from at least one linked retailer at publish time.
- Social-proof threshold— we prefer Amazon ratings ≥ 4.3 stars; lower review counts (under ~100) are acknowledged honestly in the card copy.
What we verify
- Published dimensions from the retailer or manufacturer listing.
- Current listed price at the linked retailer.
- Star rating and review count at the time of publish.
- Basic renter-conscious attributes (freestanding, plug-in, removable, or requiring disclosed wall / ceiling hardware).
- Single-session hands-on observations from the stylist: assembly, scale in the room, finish-in-the-light, day-one impressions.
What we do not verify
RoomSized does not make multi-week or multi-month longitudinal durability claims unless explicitly stated on a page. We do not verify:
- Exact color, texture, or finish accuracy beyond what the stylist observed in a single styling session under bedside light.
- Long-term durability over months or years of daily use.
- Retailer shipping reliability or return experience.
Alternatives
Where possible, each Room Recipe includes lower-budget alternatives and dream-render drift swaps for key product roles. Alternatives meet the same dimension and constraint criteria as the primary picks.
AI concept visuals
The opening dream image on the cozy flagship is an AI-styled concept render used to set the design direction: layout, mood, lighting, palette. The build-up photos after that are real styling/build photos, and the product cards use real listed Amazon products with their own dimensions, prices, ratings, and install tradeoffs.
Stylist notes on product cards
On the cozy flagship the product notes use a first-person stylist voice. They reflect one real styling session: unboxing, assembly, placement, scale in the room, how the finish sat under the room’s light, and the main tradeoff per piece. They are not paraphrases of third-party reviews, sponsored manufacturer copy, or longitudinal durability claims. When we add multi-week hands-on testing to a product, the card will say so explicitly.
Affiliate disclosure
RoomSized participates in the Amazon Associates program. We may earn a commission when you buy through affiliate links on our pages, at no extra cost to you. We only include products that fit the room size, budget, and constraint criteria explained on each page. Affiliate relationships do not influence which products are selected.
Prices and availability
Prices and availability change. We display the price at publish time and encourage you to verify on the retailer's site before purchasing. Every product page notes the date prices were last captured.
